When I think of summer, beyond the obvious sun, warmth, pools, and beaches, I always think of yummy refreshing drinks.
One of my favorites...
Every bar will make their Mojitos different, and I tend to steer clear of any made from that godawful mix.
But let me tell you, the best Mojitos I have had, (definitely the best in Madison) are from Atomic Koi in Fitchburg, Wisconsin.
Made from scratch, in Classic, or 8 other delicious flavors...
...they are all AMAZING.
In Fitchburg, the Atomic Koi has a very modern, dimly lit, laid back feel with jazz playing (but they have a jukebox if you prefer other genres).
It isn't super busy so you don't need to wait long for a drink ever 👍👍👍! I have had the pomegranate previously, but this time I had the Mango and my fiancé had the Classic, which he generously shared about half with me. (Oops!)
(Sunday Funday, am I right?)
And there are plenty of places to sit, including cozy booths for smaller or medium groups. They have an awesome patio for the warmer months, but they also have a room for shuffleboard and pool, as well as a little area you can play board games that they provide.
It's definitely a very chill place to have yummy drinks and lose track of time.
The Classic Mojito is the perfect balance that you would want in a mojito. Refreshing, sweet (but not too sweet), strong (but not too strong), just all around delicious. And the mango really adds another layer of tropical goodness into it all.
Just because I (dramatic pause) am THE Goddess of Wine and Spirits (what an effing awesome gig!!!!), I had to try another fun looking specialty cocktail on the menu.
The Pixie Stick Martini. 🙌🙌🙌
Made with Absolut®️ Citron, Absolut®️ Berry Acai, Three Olives®️ Purple, Sour and 7up®️, it legit tasted like an alcoholic grape pixie stick.
It is definitely strong though, so it is not for the faint of heart!
Overall, I love the Atomic Koi. I have been there several times and will continue to go there, especially when the urge for a Mojito comes a knockin'!
Also, when you are leaving, delightfully tipsy, waiting for you Uber to take you safely home, grab a pizza next door from The Roman Candle (I recommend their signature, The Roman Candle) and thank me later!
